PSP, PS Vita And PS Portal Repair in Dubai — Every Handheld Sony Made
Three very different machines under one name. The PSP is twenty years old and needs UMD drives, buttons and batteries; the Vita has its own screen and stick faults; the PS Portal is new enough that drift is the main complaint. All of it is bench work at our Deira unit, with free diagnosis and the price agreed before anything is opened.

What Actually Fails
The faults we see most on Sony handhelds in Dubai
Cracked Screen
Worth knowing the Vita 1000 is OLED and the Slim is LCD — different parts, different prices, so we confirm the model before quoting.
Battery Won't Hold
PSP and Vita cells are long past their design life now, and a swollen battery will push the back cover or screen out of true. If yours has started to bulge, stop using it and bring it in.
Charging Faults
Charges at an angle or not at all. The PSP uses a barrel jack, the Vita its own proprietary connector and the Portal USB-C — all replaceable, all soldered work.
Dead Or Sticky Buttons
Shoulder buttons go first on every generation. Usually the membrane beneath rather than the button itself, so replacement lasts where cleaning does not.
Sound Problems
One speaker gone, crackling, or a headphone socket that only works when the plug is held. All three are common on handhelds this age and all three are fixable.

UMD Drive Won't Read
The PSP's optical drive is a mechanical part with a laser that weakens and a lid switch that fails. Both are replaceable, and a drive that spins but never loads is usually the laser.
Wi-Fi Problems
Bear in mind the original PSP only speaks old WEP security, so a modern router may be the obstacle rather than the console.
Firmware And Software
Freezing, failed updates, or a machine stuck at the logo. We check the battery and storage first, because both imitate a firmware fault convincingly.
PS Portal Screen And Touch
The Portal is a streaming device, so a screen fault is a screen fault rather than a hint at something deeper. Touch layer and panel are priced separately.
PS Portal Stick Drift
The Portal's most common complaint by some distance. Drift is wear inside the module, and replacement is the only fix that holds.
Every Sony Handheld, Repaired Here
Six machines spanning twenty years, and they share almost nothing internally. Parts for the PSP family are still reasonably available, Vita parts are getting scarce, and Portal parts are new enough to sometimes need ordering. We check before quoting rather than after.
Getting It Fixed

Handheld Questions Answered
Which Sony handhelds do you take on?
PSP, PSP Slim, PSP Go, PS Vita, PS Vita Slim and PS Portal. Tell us which you have so we can check parts before you travel.
Can I wait while you repair it?
For most jobs, yes — batteries, buttons, charging ports and sticks are all bench work at Deira.
What parts do you use?
Original where obtainable, quality equivalents where not, and we tell you which before the repair.
What will it cost to repair?
It depends on the machine and the fault, so we will not quote a figure before looking at it. Diagnosis is free and the price is agreed with you before anything is started.
Can you fix a charging port on a Vita?
Yes. The Vita 1000 uses Sony's proprietary connector and the Slim uses micro-USB — both replaceable.
Is the repair guaranteed?
Every repair carries 90 days on parts and labour. Keep the invoice and bring it back if the fault returns.
My Vita stick has started drifting.
That is wear inside the module rather than a calibration problem, so replacement is the only fix that holds.
My PSP spins the disc but never loads it.
Usually a weak laser rather than the whole drive, and often a lid switch that no longer registers the disc as seated.
Do you handle firmware problems too?
Yes, though we check the battery and storage first — both produce symptoms that look exactly like firmware faults.
Are Vita parts still available?
Getting scarce, and honestly so. Screens and batteries are still obtainable but some Vita parts now need ordering in, and we would rather tell you that before you commit to bringing it down than discover it halfway through the repair.
